Question: Is Jesus my best friend or my King? Should I be comfortable and laid back with him or should I bow down at his knees.

Question: Is Jesus my best friend or my King? Should I be comfortable and laid back with him or should I bow down at his knees.
Both!!!!
I knew I would get that answer
The reason I asked is because I have a comfortable relationship with Jesus, I can just talk to him whenever and I don’t feel like I have to show that much respect as people say I do, he is my friend. But should I be treating him as more of a King figure, someone I love of course, but am here to serve and respect. It’s hard to convey what I mean.
Yeah, i think i know what you mean. I have had the reverse situation where it is easier for me to view and relate to Jesus as my King and harder to see Him as my friend sometimes. In OT times, God’s people for the most part only knew God as King. Jesus came as the bridge between God and man. He is fully God and fully man, divinely unified but uniquely separate. In John 15:15, Jesus says: “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” WOW! What a privilege that the divine Creator and King of the entire universe would call us friends! This shows his desire to have a deep, intimate relationship with us! We are still His servants, but also His companions. This deep intimacy with the Lord can happen without in anyway diminishing God’s sovereignty or His authority. We can come boldly to His throne of grace because He is our friend and yet we still come on bended knee out of reverence and respect for who He is. So, yeah…it’s both!!! Praise God for the comfortable, easy relationship you have with the King of the Universe! John 15:20 – “a servant is still not greater than His master” and this is where humility comes into the picture.
May the love, peace and joy of the Lord Jesus Christ continue to be with you always,
